Carson Helicopters, Inc. is happy to announce that it received an STC for the installation of the Carson Composite Tail Rotor Blade and Pitch Sleeve for the Sikorsky S-61 Helicopter. The new Carson Tail Rotor Blade is made from composite materials and incorporates new cambered airfoils with an 8⁰ twist. These airfoils, which are the same airfoils used in Carson’s previous Composite Main Rotor Blade, provide greater performance while the composite materials help to creates a more robust blade with improved damage tolerance. As an added benefit, the Carson Blade eliminates the problem of corrosion which is problematic for any metal blade flying in high moisture areas. The Carson Blade is a simple replacement and fits smoothly into the original tail rotor hub without any special tools.
Carson is in the process of certifying improvements in performance and efficiency and is testing the blade for increased life. Any improvements will be automatically transferred to its customers.
